New Year’s Day 2013

Another year has been hastily escorted into history as the new one quickly settles in. No moments were wasted in the transition, it didn’t mind if we were sound asleep or watching a big bright apple fall on television; the New Year was an absolute certainty. Certainty is a comfort that we depend on. The sun will rise in the morning and darkness must descend in the evening because He made it so. Time is a benevolent governor. It permits us to maximize our full potential but also allows us to squander it. As long as we have breath in our lungs, a second, third, fourth and fifth chances are given. Time does not discriminate, it is not reserved for the more fortunate, it cannot be bought or sold, it cannot be taken by the strongest or ambushed by the smartest; time exists because He made it so. Time was around long before man figured out how to record it and time will be around long after we are gone. What will we do with this gift of time? Uncertain? Well, let me offer a wee bit of encouragement; the same One that created time and wired it so it could determine exactly the begining and end of a day, the beginging and end of a season and the begining and end of a year; if we allow Him to lead us, I can say with certainty that our future, whatever it brings, will deliver a satisfaction beyond our wildest dreams. I close with these words found in Jeremiah 29, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil to give you hope…”. Search Him, not for the answers, but for the direction. He will never lead us down the wrong road, nor will He ever abandon us. This I guarantee. Happy New Year and may this be the best year ever!
