For King and Country

Remaining quiet on a day like today is pretty difficult. Seeing the images of two airliners intentionally crashing into the World Trade Center Towers awakens emotions that many are not sure how to handle. The title of this piece is a warrior’s battle cry borrowed from our friends “over the pond”. I find it fitting that when looking at tragedy that we first look to our King- Jesus Christ. Human emotion can be volatile and irrational, hence the need for a sure and steady hand to help us navigate the most horrific times. As long as there is sin in this world there will be pain. On a side note, it is outrageous to claim what happened on 9/11 was judgment from God. As for our country, believers are given a mandate to pray for those over us, in order that we may have peace. Despite your political affiliations, pray. You want to make a difference, vote! When it comes to the state of our country I’m reminded of a promise that can be found in 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven , and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”

It is time for believers to stand up and pray. Pray for our leaders, pray for our soldiers and pray for our enemies that they may come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. May God protect those that stand the night watch to ensure our safety from those that would wish to do us harm and to their families who so bravely sacrifice so much for our great country. Christians it is time to get involved. God Bless America.
